About Us
Why do we exist? What drives Clairemont Covenant to be a church? Our Purpose
We exist to be a community of Christ followers that are
devoted to worship, committed to the Journey of Faith, and passionate
about reaching the world with the restoring love of Jesus Christ.
Our Reasoning
We believe that people are longing for a place and a community to known and loved. We believe we live in a spiritual climate where people are searching for something to provide meaning to their lives. Ultimately, we believe that Jesus Christ through His death and resurrection has the power to restore and redeem all of creation.
How Do I Experience Restoration
Lets take a look at few Scriptures
1. Romans 3:10 - "As it is written: 'There is no one righteous, not even one...'"
In Genesis we learn that because Adam and Eve chose to eat of the forbidden fruit, sin entered the world. The entire world is doomed to spiritual death.
2. Romans 3:23-24 - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
We are all sinners. No "ifs", "ands" or "buts". Because of our sin, we are separated from God who is holy. He could have left us in this state, but instead He chose to send His son to die on the cross and take the punishment for our sin.
3. Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
The payment for sin is death. Technically we deserve death. However, Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross paid the price for us. Instead of death we can have eternal life!
4. Romans 5:6-8 - "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
There is nothing that we did to deserve to have Christ die for us. God just loves us. He doesn't just say He loves us. He shows it to us in a BIG way. He sent His only Son to die for people who didn't deserve it.
5. 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 (okay a slight detour) - "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve."
Many witnesses testify to the fact that Christ was crucified, buried and then rose again!
6. Romans 10:9-10 - "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Becoming a Christian means that you confess and have faith to believe the truth about Jesus.
7. Ephesians 2:8-9 (our last detour) - "For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God..."
There is nothing we can do to earn our salvation. It is God's gracious gift.
